The list of banks providing freebies is dwindling. If all things are equal and you have no intention to sell or redeem the mortgage in the next 3 years, then banks providing legal subsidy still make sense. Isn’t it better to receive subsidy and say thanks?
Note: As of 2014, none is offering subsidy for mortgages on new purchases. Some are offering subsidies for refinancing.
